Code of Conduct

Galactic Navy - Honor Code "It's not if you win or loose, it's not how you live or die, it's how you play."

By having membership in GTN, always remember that in your every action, both as a vessel in game and as a player whose name is shown every time you speak, you wear the GTN tag. You are representing us, and you are either helping us or hurting us. Our reputation depends on the behavior of you, the GTN member. Please take this entire document strongly into account before you consent to becoming a GTN Member, as a principal disagreement between yourself and this Code will most likely result in your termination as a GTN member.

---

The core principle and motto of GTN is "Honor is All."
Members are expected to abide by this motto. This means doing things such as, but not limited to, the following:

A. Respect and Uphold the Code of Honor and the Rules of Conduct at all times:
As a GTN member you are obligated to follow not only the code you are reading now but the DarkSpace Rules of Conduct as visible from the DarkSpace homepage. Breaking the RoC is breaking the Code of Honor.

B. Keep a Mature, Level, and Calm Head at All Times:
If you find yourself getting uncontrollably angry or otherwise emotional, log off. GTN is a gaming organization, and games are not meant to be played when tempers are lost and emotions are flaring. GTN members are expected to act with maturity in word and deed, as not doing so will result in regrettable, often dishonorable actions.

C. Speak Honorably:
Any kind of smack-talking, trash-talking, or other public degradation of enemy factions/fleets/teams, no matter who they are or what they have done, is forbidden within GTN at all times, period.

D. Fight Honorably:
Respect the ability of your opponent and respect the ability of yourself. Do not be arrogant in the face of the enemy, for instance stating that you were winning the battle and/or they are bad players (i.e. "you suck"). Respect the battle, and respect those that do the same. Finish fights that you start. If you publicly or privately challenge anyone to defeat you in any way, shape, or form, fight to the death. Running when you realize you will lose a battle you have declared you could win is dishonorable and cowardly.

E. Respect all players:
Don't be arrogant. You are not above any other player in DarkSpace by being an officer of the Galactic Navy. You do not have the right to look down on anyone who is undeserving as if you were oppressing them. If someone tells you congratulations, or "good job", or if they say "wow you're a good player", or what have you, thank them. They will continue to look up to you if you do that.

F. Defend Your Honor:
If anyone violates these principles, as well as the many other priniciples of honor, against you, then defend yourself by all means necessary. If you are being verbally attacked, do not stoop to the level of your opponent and talk back to them, instead either abstain from replying or respectfully discredit/shoot down what they are saying in a non-malicious way. If you have been pursued and destroyed in your ship even if you didn't fire back, hunt that person down until they have been utterly destroyed by your weapon salvo, no matter how long it takes you. If someone jumps in to fight you, then you turn the tables and beat them down and they run, hunt them down as well. Vendettas are good as long as you have honorable reason for them.

---

Violations of the GTN Code are viewed just as Rules of Conduct violations are in the DarkSpace game system. They will be dealt with, depending on severity, as the Fleet Admiral and Commanders see fit. This includes immediate removal.
